Oxford Comma Fires Back 12 Years After Vampire Weekend Diss Track

The late 2000s were an excellent time for Brooklyn-based indie rock bands. Cults, LCD Soundsystem, TV on the Radio — all pioneers of the Brooklyn Indie sound in their own right. Then came along Vampire Weekend with their debut single “Oxford Comma.”

Who gives a fuck about an Oxford comma? I’ve seen those English dramas, too. They’re cruel.

“When it [Oxford Comma] dropped, the entire borough went nuts,” remembers one music fan. “We expected a quick response from the Oxford comma. It was supposed to be the biggest battle since Pac and Biggie”.

But that beef never materialized. For 12 years, Oxford comma stayed silent. Until now.

“Vampire Weekend Is Canceled”, the new single by Oxford comma, goes directly after the Brooklyn indie band. It also appears to be capitalizing on the coronavirus pandemic, since no one can go out on the weekends anymore.

I must say, after 12 years of contemplating a response, the new song feels a little weak in prose.
